- Property must be a single, semi-detached home, or townhouse
- Applicant must be an individual homeowner (not a corporation)
- Work must be completed by a licensed contractor
- A building permit must be obtained before installation
- Installation must pass municipal inspection
- Only one rebate is available per property every 10 years
Mississauga homeowners with a backwater valve connected to the storm lateral should apply through the City of Mississauga’s Basement Flooding Prevention Rebate Program rather than Peel Region’s Backwater Valve Rebate.

If your sewer lateral is damaged or blocked, it can increase the risk of basement flooding. Halton offers a subsidy to help offset repair costs.

Downspout Disconnection Program
Disconnecting downspouts from the sewer system helps reduce system overload and basement flooding risk.

Exterior Storm Drain Disconnection
This program supports disconnecting exterior storm drains from the wastewater system and redirecting water safely away from the home.

Water-Efficient Toilet Rebate Program
To improve water efficiency, Halton offers a rebate for installing approved low-flow toilets.
You may be eligible for a rebate of $75 for an eligible WaterSense Certified toilet.
The program is limited to 1 toilet rebate per residence, and rebates are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
